Creativity Connects Norwalk: Meet L.A. Morano, Landscape Designer, Author, Artist and Business Owner

Creativity Connects Norwalk

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Norwalk?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Norwalk.

Creativity connects us.

Meet L.A. Morano owner of L.A. LANDSCAPES, professional landscape designer, children's book author/illustrator, and local artist, photographer.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

Years ago I worked with my aunt and her church group serving lunches at the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. This non-profit provides emergency shelter for individuals and families who are dealing with homelessness. They also operate a kitchen that serves hot meals daily and a grocery pantry that provides food to the community. It is important and imperative to provide for those in need of food and shelter.

We have so many great organizations in our area that make it easy to donate time, money, clothes, toys, and other essentials to those in need. I'm most touched by the individual generosity I see on posts from our local sites of people donating their personal time, efforts, and services from volunteering to rescue, sponsor, and care for animals from kill shelters -  to plowing the driveways of our elderly or disabled.

Where do you go for inspiration and creativity?

I am partial to our parks, churches, public grounds, and beaches for my inspiration and creativity. There is always something beautiful and different to view and experience. Sunrises, sunsets, the smell of a walk through the woods in fall with my dog, humility in the presence of some of the churches, public mansions, and historic buildings and sites are all inspiring.

What do you love about your community?

I love that there is such a strong presence of support for our local charities, businesses, and interest groups. We seem to cater to the diversity, likes, needs, and culture of our community through our restaurants, indoor and outdoor music and comedy venues, art festivals, sporting and charity events, concerts, theatre, parades, and holiday celebrations to name a few.
