Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Rex Boating Club!

Four questions with Bill Gardella of Rex Boating Club.

The Rex Boating Club (RBC) is a membership-only club providing high-quality, well-maintained, “turn-key” boats to allow members, their families, and friends to create a lifetime of cherished memories on Long Island Sound. We started in 2005 and are proud to be Connecticut’s original “Ownership AlternativeTM."

Why did you start your business?

I recognized that there were a lot of people that might like boating but who were not willing to buy a boat yet, or maybe ever.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: “I wish I could…"

I wish I could get even more people our on our beautiful Norwalk Harbor and Islands,  and Long Island Sound, one of the best boating areas ANYWHERE!

Best selling product/service?

Most members plan to do a lot of boating so they buy a Captain’s Choice plan that allows an unlimited number of boating days each season.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Rex Marine is our primary partner for dockage, winter storage, repairs, maintenance, parts, gasoline, and accessories. Rysz Battery keeps the boats going, and other than that, we do a lot ourselves.  We buy our boats from Rex Marine, A&S Boats, and Candlewood East Marina.

Rex Boating Club is located at 144 Water Street, Norwalk. Visit them online here.
