Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Esperanza Center for Law and Advocacy!

Three questions with Yazmin Rodriguez, Esq., owner of Esperanza Center for Law and Advocacy.

Why did you start your business?

We started this business to provide access to justice for immigrant communities. We are a low-bono law firm that provides quality, affordable, and effective legal advocacy to people navigating our complicated and hostile immigration system. Simply put, we exist to help immigrants and to support them and fight for their thriving here in the United States.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

I wish I could hire many more passionate, excellent, kind immigration attorneys to join the fight for immigrant rights in Connecticut.

Best selling product/service?

Our best-selling product - our only product at this point - is our immigration legal services, especially the provision of legal representation in immigration court. The majority of our clients are asylum-seekers and youth, but we also represent people in all sorts of affirmative and defensive immigration work, including work with bond and detention.
