Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Hector Pachas Photography!

Three questions with Hector Pachas.

Why did you start your business?

The beginning of my business was sort of the beginning of a new book chapter. After working in the private sector for a number of years, I saw the need for a more personal connection with clients. My previous work experience in IT/Finance and management had me behind a screen and phone and not too often meeting with people, which in a way had the artistic side of me asking for a more personal touch. Photography had been a hobby for years and while a gig happened here and there, the business adventure hadn't taken place quite yet so when it was time to move on from corporate, focusing on my photography was a natural move.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

I wish I could better market the value of photography. We live in times in which a camera is so easy to access, yet out of the thousands of photos that we take rarely any of them see the light of day because we "don't like them". Yes, we have fancy phones which take amazing photos, but a tool in the wrong hands is just that. For a photo to be an heirloom or a memory, things need to click, colors, lines, your expression. In making a connection, you can turn a very shy person into a rock star and that's my aim, to make you look your best.

What is your best selling product/service?

The Portrait Session. As a photographer, you get to share a personal bond with your client since in order to get your best look, a conversation to get to know you will flow into a very relaxing environment - think of it as a therapy session or grabbing coffee with an old friend type of setting. The best You that was held back comes out naturally.
