SHU Awards Tenure, Promotions to Nine Faculty Members

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—One faculty member at Sacred Heart University has earned tenure, and eight others have received promotions as SHU nears the end of its 2020-2021 academic year.

Tenure:

Jacqueline Vernarelli of Monroe, assistant professor of public health, has earned tenure. Vernarelli is a nutritional epidemiologist and public health nutritionist who studies how diet and lifestyle influence health status. She also serves as director of research education and consultation for SHU’s College of Health Professions. Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, she held academic appointments at Fairfield University and Pennsylvania State University, where she was also a member of the Penn State Population Research Institute. She consults and has served as an expert witness for various statistical and nutrition-related projects. 

Promotion to professor: Anna Greer of Bridgeport, public health; Grace Guo of Milford, management; and Robert McCloud of Milford, computer science and engineering.

Promotion to clinical professor: Donna Bowers of Fairfield, physical therapy; and Eric Nemec of Trumbull, physician assistant studies.

Promotion to clinical associate professor: Sheelagh Schlegel of Norwalk, occupational therapy; and Jennifer Wilson of St. Augustine, FL, social work.

Promotion to assistant professor of practice: Robin Consiglio of Branford, nursing, St. Vincent’s College.
