You're IT RHK Seafood Boil & Bar!

Four questions with Ockhyeon Byeon, founder of RHK Seafood Boil & Bar.

Why did you start your business?

The concept of this restaurant came from the geographic background of Norwalk, we stump upon this location and find it a good fit for the new wave seafood restaurant. I am raised in a southern city in South Korea very similar to South Norwalk. Where I am from, seafood is the prime/core economic source and background.

And when I first visited South Norwalk two years ago, it immediately hit me that this place needs to be the town for Seafood, it must be. This place reminds me of my home again. This is why I want to start my business here.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Aside from the usual seafood boil items, our other best-selling items are our RHK burger and Ramen that’s from the seafood broth.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We are supporting a local beer brewery called the Kents Fall and also a whiskey company that’s based in South Norwalk called 1420 Distillery. As for seafood, we are definitely big support for Paganos for providing us with the freshest and best seafood.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

To be honest, everything is a bit different after Covid. What I originally had planned was changed, not to mention the crazy food cost. But, there is a good side to everything, I was able to create more interesting stuff that more family-friendly like milkshakes and funky cocktails.

I am working on something now to bring my background as a culinary chef and barista in Italy to Norwalk. I hope it will bring something new and exciting for people in Norwalk.

Ockhyeon Byeon would like to nominate the 1420 Distillery to be featured next!
