Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Crystal Theatre!

Four questions with Cheryl E. Kemeny, founder of Crystal Theatre.

Why did you start your business?

We started our business to provide performing opportunities to children and adults in our community.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our show classes/performing arts classes are our best-selling products and services.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We use A Cook Print for our apparel and merchandise, Signsmart for our advertising signs, Staples for scripts, music, and other promotional devices, Cross River Lock, DaVinci's Pizza, Jordan’s Too, Costco for supplies, Home Depot for set materials, and Milhail Pivavorof’s recording studio.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we focused on smaller classes with more diverse offerings, expanded our preprofessional program, and are now opening our shows to adults around the community.
