Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT JK Sign Company!

Four questions with Jason Kurtzman, founder of JK Sign Company.

Why did you start your business?

I have been in the sign and graphics business for over 30 years, the second generation. I decided to go out on my own in 2001, breaking away from my father's business and reaching into other branches of the business.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our best-selling item is our service, instead of you coming to us to have your vehicle lettered, we come to you.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We service many local businesses including Teed and Brown (for over 15 years) as well as Boccarossa Insurance (both locations), Darien Lawn and Tree (DLTC) for 20 years, A&S Food New Canaan Ave, MDM Sanitation in New Canaan and Limerock Racetrack (we do their signage and billboards).

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We are one of the national installers for Total Wine liquor stores, BJ'S Wholesale, and Popeyes chicken. My small business is booming, we are happy but busy!
