Four questions with Mike Heslin, founder of Pedego 203.
Why did you start your business?
I sell Electric Bikes. They changed my life and I wanted to bring that to more people. I had an accident that left me not able to peddle a regular bike. Once I got a bike, everything changed for me. I was able to ride again and enjoy the outdoors as I used to when things didn't hurt so much. Now with the advent of the e-bike, all of my excuses are gone.
Why not share that with more people so they can get out like we all used to? Out of the cars and onto bikes. That's what brings my smile.
What is your best-selling product/service?
We sell the Pedego Electric Bike. The #1 E-Bike in North America. What makes us better is that we are locally owned and will help fit you on the proper bike.
As a locally owned business, I try and shop local as well. I use a local printer, Walter at Sign Smarts. I grocery shop a local organic market, Harbor Harvest (and they have what I would consider the world's best Lobster Roll at Knot Norms).
Have you reimagined your small business?
Bikes shops can be intimidating. I'm not a regular bike shop - we sell fun! I want to make sure that the experience is as good as the ride. And Pedego backs everything up with a 5-year warranty.
