Horizons at NCCS Receives $20,000 from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation
Horizons at New Canaan Country School recently received a $20,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to support advancing career exposure and pathways for marginalized youth as part of the Fairfield Business Collaborative for Education Equity.
A $20,000 grant from the Foundation will allow Horizons at NCCS to strengthen its’ career-readiness and career-exposure programming to provide students with opportunities to learn about career pathways. The grant will also allow Horizons at NCCS to create access to alternative pathways to well-paying jobs for students who do not want to pursue a college degree. This programming will supplement the current high school program which includes academic and life skills coaching, tutoring, college counseling, peer and group learning, college tours, college readiness workshops, and social events. The career-readiness programming will include developing a grade-level curriculum for career-readiness skills, a calendar of career panels and shadow days across industries, mock interviews, resume writing and more.
Executive Director, Nancy von Euler said: “We are grateful to the Fairfield County’s Community Foundation for their continued partnership and believe that strengthening this aspect of our program will have an important impact on the success of our students.” If you are interested in your company becoming involved with our career-readiness programming, please reach out to Nancy von Euler at nvoneuler@horizonskids.org.
