Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Candee's Utopia!

Four questions with Candee Jorden, founder of Candee's Utopia.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business to supplement my income, and I have always made my own products for myself and my family. They encouraged me to share my gift with others.

What is your best-selling product/service?

People swear by my Candles. The scents fill a room and bring you to Grandma's Kitchen, they make bath time a day at the spa. When people walk into your home they feel at home.

I offer other body products as well. My sore muscle therapy massage oil will put a nice end to your day and give your body the relaxation it deserves.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I have not found many local businesses that offer supplies for my business. As a consumer, I support many small businesses. One is Da Good Chef Ricardo. He’s located at Vibz Uptown at 3155 Main Street in Hartford Connecticut.

My store is mobile and I stop in there many days for a home-cooked meal and a warm smile.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Candee’s Utopia LLC has introduced the world to Sugar&Spice. My company is my brand and there is so much more to the name than fragrances and body oils. Definitely, more to come.

Candee would like to nominate Da Good Chef to be featured next!
