Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz Named Statewide Chair of CT State Employees Campaign for Charitable Giving

Today, she joined the Statewide Campaign Committee to kick off the 2019 campaign at the State Capitol. During the event, state employees and retirees had the opportunity to meet with representatives from participating charities and learn more about the great programs and services that they provide.

“I am honored to serve as this year's statewide campaign chair and to work with our dedicated state employees and retirees to show that Connecticut is a kind and caring state,” Lt. Governor Bysiewicz said. “Since 1993, when Connecticut first passed legislation to create the employees' giving campaign, we have seen thousands of state workers unselfishly participate in this program and make a true difference. Through their generosity we’ve been able to raise millions of dollars for hundreds of charities and we plan to successfully continue our fundraising efforts this year. A little money, each month, can go a long way in assuring that programs and services are provided to the less fortunate in our own communities and around the world.”

CSEC provides state employees and retirees an opportunity to contribute to hundreds of qualified nonprofit charities of their choice through the convenience of payroll deduction. Annually, employees and retirees donate between $700,000 and $1 million. Participation in this campaign is completely voluntary.

As the Statewide Chair, Lt. Governor Bysiewicz will promote state employee and retiree participation in various fundraising campaigns, including an upcoming Charity Tennis Tournament taking place September 7 and September 8 at Conard High School in West Hartford.

The contributions made by employees and retirees make possible a wide range of vital services: shelter for the homeless, protection of the environment, research for cures of diseases, care for both children and seniors. These are only a fraction of the services provided by the nearly 700 charities listed on this website.
