CT BBB: Warning About Fake Websites with New Britain Address

CROMWELL, Conn.— The Better Business Bureau Serving Connecticut is currently investigating 25 websites that claim to be operating out of New Britain Connecticut. Consumers from several states report placing orders with the websites but never receiving the products.

In July of 2020, BBB Serving Connecticut began investigating these websites after several consumers filed reports on BBB Scam Tracker, assuming the company to be a fraud. So far, customers stated that they placed orders with one of the websites, paid for the merchandise and never received the products. Many victims said they received fake tracking numbers and they were unable to contact customer service.

The BBB investigation discovered that the address associated with the websites, 267 Batterson Drive New Britain, CT does not exist in town records according to the town assessor.

It appears that several of these websites spoof popular brands by creating similar look-a-like websites replicating companies like LEGO, Balenciaga, Keurig, Ergo Baby, Gameplay and Nintendo and s everal of the URL's contain '.space'.

Ergobaby, Gameplay and LEGO all confirmed with BBB that the websites involved in this investigation were not authorized retailers to sell their products.

These websites s eem to be very volatile and quickly morph into something new. Currently there are 25 URLs associated with the New Britain address but there are likely dozens more yet to be discovered.

As of today, the websites shown in the attached image are still actively taking orders and not shipping products to consumers.
