On September 20, 2021, two Norwalk Police Dispatchers and Police Chaplain were recognized for their outstanding service to the Norwalk Community
-Dispatcher Joshua Wrinn played a significant role in the rescue of four individuals whose boat capsized; in the chaos of a potentially deadly situation, Wrinn was able to keep the caller calm and determine their, enabling a swift rescue, bringing all four to safety.
-Dispatcher Richard Reynolds was able to direct a caller to apply rescue aid to a patient that was not breathing, thereby saving the patient’s life, and enabling the hand off to officers and paramedics.
-Reverend Artie Kassimis was recognized for his Backpack Giveaway Initiative. Along with members of his parish, Word Alive Bible Church, the Reverend began pulling donations together to provide supplies to children for a successful start of the school year.
The Reverend reached out to the police department and the joint efforts yielded almost 600 backpacks donated to the community.
