Mardi Gras Concert & Party in Nyack

ArtsRock has created a fun, local night where guests will be wowed by many accoutrements, but let's start with the music.  Steven Bernstein and the ArtsRock team has put together a group of masterful musicians just for this night. Steven Bernstein, Trumpet; James Kimak, Sax;
Mark Sganga, Acoustic and Electric Guitar; Jeff Doctorow, Guitar; Eric Lawrence, Sax; Tom Artin, Trombone; Jonathan Peretz, Drums and
Sue Williams, Bass.

“I am so thrilled to have all these great musicians. This is going to be one great night of music, food and dancing. We are hoping for a big party feel celebrating in New Orleans style”, says Elliott Forrest, ArtsRock Executive and Artistic Director.

Bernstein, who lives in Nyack by way of Berkeley, California has had an impactful presence on the New York scene over the past 30 years as trumpeter, composer, arranger and bandleader. Bernstein has immersed himself in such a wide array of music with his bands Sexmob, Millennial Territory Orchestra, Diaspora Soul, Universal Melody Brass Band, Spanish Fly, Blue Campfire and the Butler-Bernstein Hot 9 that he defies easy categorization. A former member of the Lounge Lizards, Bernstein has also composed works for film, theater, dance in addition to arrangements for a diverse list of artists.

This event is inspired by a series of concerts, created by James Kimak, to raise awareness for People to People of Rockland, an organization that serves the county’s neediest. Please bring non-perishable items to the concert to be donated to People to People.

Cris Spezial and Nyack Gourmet, will be offering New Orleans style tastings. Spezial, a CIA trained chef who has owned Nyack Gourmet since 2001, has worked in the food preparation and catering business for over 30 years and competed on Food Network's "Chopped" in 2011.

The night also brings guests quality hudson valley craft beer from District 96 brewery in New City, NY. John Potenza, Owner, will be on hand to answer any questions about this new brew pub where each beer is not afraid to get political, with names like "Silent Majority"; "No Recollection" and "Yuuuge".

Bring your friends and join ArtsRock, a non profit in your community, who works hard to provide increased access to professional arts and multi-cultural programs for an underserved, diverse audience, in and around Rockland County.
