Summer Reading 2016 at Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library
for Children and Adults
Be a Super Reader! Children ages 3 – 12 are invited to the Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library this summer from June 27th to August 4th for a six-week reading program. The theme this year is “On Your Mark Get Set… Read!” and will feature sports and games. We’ll have special programs, crafts, and weekly book check-ins with prizes.
Come in Monday, June 27 or Thursday, June 30, 2 - 6 pm to register. Then drop in on Mondays (excluding July 4) or Thursdays between 2 and 6 pm to record the number of pages you’ve read, talk about a book with Miss Nancy, do a craft if you wish, and receive weekly prizes! To celebrate all the pages we’ve read, we will have a family pizza party at 6 pm on Thursday, August 4.
Adults 18 and older, “Exercise Your Mind” by participating in an eight-week adult summer reading raffle. Simply submit a raffle entry form for each book you read in July and August to enter for a chance to win. Prizes have been generously donated by local businesses such as Mani & Pedi, Betsy Franco Feeney Photography, and Valentina Salon. Raffle entries will be collected beginning July 1st and prizes will be awarded every Friday beginning July 8th and concluding August 26th. A kickoff event will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 6:30 pm when Shari Bernstein-Meyer presents “StressLess Summer” a workshop on stress management which will include a brief overview of what stress is, and evidence-based practices that help manage stress. These include mindful meditation, gentle stretching/chair yoga, and progressive muscle relaxation. Registration is required for the “StressLess Summer” workshop.
