PARENT FORUM 7:00 pm FEBRUARY 8TH 2017 PLEASANTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, 60 Romer Avenue
Pleasantville STRONG invites parent’s educators, health professionals and high school age students to join us at our next parent forum where we will be welcoming Stephanie Marquesano, founder of the Harris Project.
Stephanie Marquesano created The Harris Project after her son Harris died by accidental overdose in October 2013, at the age of 19. Harris Blake Marquesano was a real person. He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. When Harris died, at the age of 19, he was suffering from co-occurring disorder (COD) which is the combination of one or more mental health issues (anxiety, depression, ADHD) and substance abuse.
Here are some facts about the relationship between mental health and substance abuse issues
Did you know that 60-70% of those addicted to substances have co-occurring disorders?
Did you know that 9.2 million Americans meet the clinical diagnosis for co-occurring disorders?
The Harris Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization created to promote, support and advance education, screening, treatment and research opportunities to improve the lives of adolescents through young adults presenting with symptoms of and/or diagnosed with co-occurring disorders (COD).
