Happy new year!
Four quick bits of news for the Westchester Table Tennis Center:
1) Winter/Spring 2017 League Night will run for 19 weeks, through May 11. Same format (2x2 team) as before. $100 to the player who is on a winning team most often during the season. Arrive by 7:30 pm, or call the club by then to let us know you're coming, in order to be included in the draw. Cost: $30/season, or $3 per evening.
Fyi, the League Night ratings have again been re-synced with USATT ratings for players who compete in both. You can see the updated League Night ratings here.
Btw, I ended up not applying the bonuses and penalties from last week's Challenge League Night, as they skewed the ratings too much. Sky Shatz, for example, challenged a lot of much higher-rated players and would have been penalized more than 200 points for his losses -- making his rating unnaturally low for regular League Night. I need to think this through some more. So only the regular adjustments were applied.
2) Kids' Training Program with Rawle Alleyne is offered on Monday and Wednesday, 4:30-6:00 pm, and Saturday, 10am-Noon. You can sign up for one, two or three sessions a week. The cost is $15/session, or a reduced amount per day if you sign up for the season. Details here as well as at the club.
3) An Accomplished Nigerian Table Tennis Player, Agunbiade Tajudeen, will stay with us for three months. He was a double gold medalist in table tennis at the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, and he counts himself among the top 30 able-bodied players in Nigeria. Ben Lerman's family has graciously agreed to host him for the beginning of his visit. Please welcome him when he arrives.
