Pleasantville School District Board Meeting February 28th

BOARD OF EDUCATION Pleasantville Union Free School District May 16, 2017 Annual School District Meeting and Election:

There will be two vacancies for the Office of Member of the Board of Education for three-year terms, commencing July 1, 2017 and expiring June 30, 2020. Petitions, available at the District Office, require a minimum of twenty-five qualified voters’ signatures and must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5:00pm, Monday, April 17, 2017.

To be eligible to vote in the Annual Budget Vote and School Board Election on May 16, 2017, you must be:

  1. A citizen of the United States;

  2. At least 18 years of age (by May 16, 2017);

  3. A Pleasantville UFSD resident at least 30 days immediately prior to the day of the vote;

  4. Registered with the Westchester County Board of Elections OR registered no later than May 11, 2017

    with the school district.

Registering at the District Office does not register an individual with the Westchester County Board of Elections.

If you have previously registered and voted in either a school district or general election in the last four calendar years, re-registration is NOT required. Voter registration forms & additional information are available on the PUFSD website.

Transportation:

Requests for transportation to private and parochial schools for the 2017-18 school year must be submitted in writing
to the District Office by Monday, April 3, 2017. Request Forms are available on the PUFSD website or may be obtained from the Business Office.

RESOLVED, that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the Board of Education approves the following Appointments/Reappointments:

RESOLVED, that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the Board of Education approves the carryover of an additional five (5) vacation days into the 2017-2018 school year for Veronica Shea.

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby approves the merger of the following modified teams with Pocantico Hills School District for the 2016-17 season:

B. RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE ON PRE-SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION

BE IT RESOLVED, that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and the Committee on Pre-School Special Education, the Board of Education reviews the following classifications and arranges for the following placements and/or services for cases numbered: 2416, 2615, 3116.

C. RECOMMENDATION OF THE COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL EDUCATION

BE IT RESOLVED, that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and the Committee on Special Education, the Board of Education reviews the following classifications and arranges for the following placements and/or services for cases numbered: 631415, 161213, 150203, 061516, 271617, 241314, 081314, 291617, 281314.

D. APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

1. RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves the appointment of The Learning Shop, for additional professional services in the amount of $9,750, to provide Home Instruction – Special Education Students, bringing the 2016-17 school year maximum to $29,900.

E. APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL BOARD MEETINGS
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves additional Board Meeting dates of March 21 and April 25, 2017.

F. APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION INSPECTORS

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education hereby appoints the following individuals to work as Election Inspectors at the

Annual School District Meeting and Election on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at a rate of $14.50/hour and authorizes the District ClerktohiresubstitutesforElectionInspectorswhocannotserveonthedayofthevote:

VIII. BUSINESS AFFAIRS

A. APPROVAL OF SETTLEMENT

WHEREAS, the Board of Education has been presented with a proposed settlement for tax map parcels #106.6-5-1, #106.6-5-2, #106.6-5-3 and #106.6-5-70 in the tax certiorari matter of Sorbco Realty Corporation v. Town of Mount Pleasant; and

WHEREAS, the settlement would require a refund from the school district for the tax assessment years 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 in the sum of $18,771.12;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education accepts the proposed settlement in this matter subject to approval of the settlement by the Town Board of the Town of Mount Pleasant.

B. APPROVAL OF BUDGET TRANSFERS

BE IT RESOLVED, that, upon the recommendation of the Assistant Superintendent for Business, the Board of Education approves the following January 2017 budget transfers for the 2016-17 school year:
