
Rick Pope PA-C, in the Department of Rheumatology under the direction of Rheumatologist Michael Spiegel MD, delivered a talk on bone health for women at the "Day of Dance" event held at the Ethan Allen Hotel.
Western Connecticut Health Network, the new collaboration of Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital, hosted the third annual Spirit of Women “Day of Dance” on Saturday, March 3, 2012. The event, which focused on women’s health, featured presentations by members of the healthcare community, including our own Rick Pope, Physician Assistant at Danbury Orthopedics.
“No Bones About It” was the title of the presentation co-presented with Dr. Claudia Johnson-Baxter, an obstetrician/gynecologist with Women’s Healthcare of New Milford.
The 30 minute presentation focused on specific ways in which women can help prevent osteoporosis and maintain healthy bones. Thanks to Dr. Spiegel and Mr. Pope, Danbury Orthopedics is on the cutting edge of preventive strategy of treatment, and prevention of osteoporosis so common in older women and increasingly in men. In addition, they specialize in complicated cases of bone and mineral health in both sexes. Dr. Spiegel and Mr. Pope speak locally, regionally and nationally on the topic of osteoporosis. Dr. Spiegel and Mr. Pope have been managing osteoporosis for patients for over 20 years and are considered experts on bone health in the greater Danbury, New Milford area.
