
Update on the current texting and driving enforcement program, which will run for two more days: Redding police have made 38 stops, some of which also resulted in charges of unregistered vehicles. One stop resulted in the discovery of a man wanted for charges in Waterbury.
On 6/20, Officer Alcott responded to an accident involving 18 year old Kyle Guffey of Redding and a 12 year old on a mini bike. Guffey struck the 12 year old mini-biker with his car, and the 12 year old was transported to Danbury Hospital with non life threatening injuries. The incident occurred on a private access-way, and therefore no enforcement action was taken by Redding Police.
On 6/22, Officer McManus observed a vehicle travelling at high speed and swerving on Rt. 107. McManus stopped the vehicle, and the driver, Andrew Taylor, 43, of Bethany, CT failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and his BAC was determined to be 1.0. Taylor was charged with DWI, and failure to drive right. He was released on a 50 dollar bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 5th.
On 6/24, Officer O'Connor responded to an incident on Station Road. Tim Rogers, 60, of Redding, was backing out of a private driveway when 22 year old Daniel Dineen of Redding struck his vehicle with his motorcycle. There were no life threatening injuries, and the case is currently under investigation.
There were 5 domestic dispute calls this week; none of which resulted in arrest.
