On the morning of October 20, 2020 the Redding Health Department was notified of two members of the Redding Elementary School community that tested positive for COVID-19. They have been instructed to remain home in isolation for 10 days.
The cases were contained to two classrooms in one wing of the building. Anyone who is considered a possible close contact of those tested positive (within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes of a confirmed case) have been notified and CT Department of Public Health advised quarantine protocols have been put in place.
COVID-19 is spread mainly via person-to-person contact through contaminated air droplets from coughing and sneezing by an infected person. Handwashing, coughing and sneezing into a tissue, avoiding touching your eyes, mouth, and nose, wearing a face covering whenever you’re likely to be near others, and maintaining at least 6 feet between yourself and others when outside of your home are vital to prevent the spread. Non-essential travel and social gatherings should be avoided.
