Norwalk, CT – Calling all troop leaders! The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is offering discounted tickets and educational programming this spring to help scouts earn badges and develop a deeper understanding about the world around them.
BSA Weekend will be held March 25-26, with Cub Scout Day on March 25 and Merit Badge Day on March 26. Girl Scout Day will be held on April 1.
“Scout Days are the perfect outing for any troop interested in learning more about local ecosystems and thinking about how they can make a difference in protecting them,” said Associate Director of Education Ann Marie Lisi. “Programs are specially designed to engage your scouts in hands-on activities that will require them to think critically and spark conversation about some of today’s most pressing conservation issues.”
Programs are available for all levels of scouts and help reach specific badge requirements. They feature expeditions on the Aquarium’s research vessel, animal encounters, experiments in the lab, engineering projects, and guided tours of the Aquarium. Troop leaders interested in these programs are encouraged to register quickly as Merit Badge Day programs are already sold out. Cub Scouts must be registered by March 22, and Girl Scouts must be registered by March 29. Purchase of admission is also required on Cub Scout Day and Girl Scout Day to participate in programs.
Discounted admission is offered on Cub Scout Day and Girl Scout Day. Tickets can be purchased for children age 3-12 for $14, and adults for $19. To receive the discount, tickets for Cub Scout Day must be purchased by March 24, and tickets for Girl Scout Day must be purchased by March 31.
Scouts must be over 42” tall to participate in programs on the research vessel, and must be accompanied by a chaperone on Cub Scout Day and Girl Scout Day. Chaperones are also required to purchase a ticket to be on the cruise.
