Architectural tours in Connecticut

Histoury, an organization that specializes in creating entertaining and educational architectural tours, has planned three exciting journeys in April.

Visitors can explore colonial homes in Redding, midcentury-modern homes and buildings in Stamford, and buildings of the first colonial families in Stratford. Created by Georgette Blau, Histoury's goal is to raise awareness and inspire preservation of historic buildings in CT, NY, and MA communities. With very limited spots, interested parties are encouraged to sign up soon to secure their spot on these once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Revolutionary Redding: A Bus Tour of Colonial-Era Homes

On April 16th at 1pm, Histoury will take people on a journey through Redding's colonial homes, including the Old Stone House and Colonel Horsefeathers' saltbox. Georgian, Federal, and vernacular homes, including sites of Redding's earliest crimes, will also be featured. Redding's buildings, like the Old Stone House, 126 Picketts Ridge Road, and the Colonel Aaron Barlow House, reflect its rich history and democratic ideals.

Stamford’s Midcentury Icons: A Bus Tour of Midcentury-Modern Architecture

On April 23rd at 1pm, Histoury will tour Stamford's midcentury-modern homes and buildings designed by influential architects like Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, and Jim Evans. Wright's Springbough and Neutra's Glen House still stand today. Evans designed many family homes and apartment towers, contributing to the city's modernist architecture landscape.

On April 30th at 1pm, Histoury will take people on a journey through the historic buildings of Stratford's colonial families, including New Englanders, immigrants, and politicians. Stratford Center features well-preserved saltboxes, Georgian and Federal homes, and the stories of notable founding families, including the residents William Samuel Johnson and William Thompson. Don't miss Frank Scott Bunnell's childhood home, which became the namesake of Stratford's high school.
