Longtime Redding Resident, Army Veteran, Daniel W. Evon, 89, has Died

Daniel W. Evon, 89, of Danbury, longtime resident of Redding, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Carol (MacDougall) Evon. Dan was born in Norwalk, CT on September 6, 1933; son of the late Daniel and Willa (Taylor) Evon.

A United States Army Veteran and a retired electrical contractor, Dan enjoyed racing as a sport, was an avid NASCAR fan and a member of the Southern New York Racing Association.

Dan is survived by his daughters, Michele Stevens and husband Brian, Denise Dernbach and husband Dan, his grandchildren Alisha Stevens Barry and husband Michael, and Corey Stevens, his great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rowan and Delaney Barry, his siblings Gary and Mark Evon and by step-grandchildren, Jessica Dodge and husband Charles, Kristin Stone and husband Cary, Lauren Dernbach and step-great-grandchildren, Desiree and Henry. In addition to his parents and wife, Dan was predeceased by a son, Richard Alan Evon.

Family and friends may gather to celebrate the lives of Dan and Carol Evon on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Burial will be at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 am. 

Contributions can be made in his memory to the Richard Evon Scholarship Fund and sent to Henry Abbott Technical High School, 21 Hayestown Avenue, Danbury, CT 06811.
