Puppies saved by South Salem's Rock n' Rescue up for adoption

Rock n’ Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in South Salem, NY, recently rescued five puppies found in a dumpster in a dire state. While the photo of the puppies' plight is difficult to view, thanks to the efforts of Rock n’ Rescue, four of the five puppies were safely rescued.

James Scova, a representative of Rock n’ Rescue, emphasized the importance of preventing such situations. "We don't share this story to make anyone feel sad or guilty. We share stories like these because we know they can be prevented. You can bring animals to the shelter when you need to, and together we can prevent situations like these by spaying and neutering our pets and advocating for and helping others to do the same!"

The rescue unfolded when Rock n’ Rescue received a call on their emergency line reporting the discovery of five puppies in a rusty crate in a dumpster behind a Pizza Hut. The organization promptly responded, rushing to the scene to pick up the puppies and provide them with emergency care. Sadly, one of the puppies had suffered a broken neck, likely from the fall into the dumpster, and did not survive. However, the remaining four puppies were brought back to the shelter for care and rehabilitation.

Moments like these serve as poignant reminders of the importance of responsible pet ownership. Scova expressed the organization's sadness, questioning why the puppies' owners did not spay or neuter their pets or seek help from the shelter if the puppies were unwanted.

Despite the heartbreaking start, there is hope for these puppies. Three of them, named Grace (black and white), Gemma (black), and Gordon (brown), are still looking for their forever homes and are available for adoption. Thank you to Rock n’ Rescue for advocating for these pups animals and working to make stories like this a thing of the past.
