Ridgefield Toastmasters Hosts Area 14 Contests

On April 10, fledgling Ridgefield Toastmasters Club hosted Area clubs that participated in the Tall Tales and International Speech Contest. The contests were held in the meeting room of the Ridgefield Firehouse, thanks to Ridgefield Fire Chief, and Toastmaster Secretary, Heather Burford. 

The Contest Master was Bruce Cornwell. He shared hosting duties with Area 14 Governor Lois Lawerence.

Three Toastmasters entertained the group with their Tall Tales. Chirag Patel from the BI (Boehringer Ingelheim) Toastmasters won First Place with his tale of the Show Thief. Second Place was won by Alan Kaplan from Wooster Heights/ Goodrich Toastmasters. Aaron rothschild from Ridgefield Toastmasters also participated, although he was disqualified because his speech went over the time limit. 

The International Speech contest was won by Redding Hamlet Hub contributor, June Archer. June is in the Ridgefield Toastmasters and her speech is published in the Redding Hub. Thuy Nguyen (Twee Winn) won second place. She is from the BI Toastmasters. Also participating was Jeff Blutstein from Wooster Heights/Goodrich.

Refreshments were provided by the Ridgefield Club. Judges and other officials were split among the participating groups. 

The next level is the Division A Contests on april 20 ar East Fishkill Library in Hopewell Junction, NY. All are welcome to attend.
