TRAFFIC ALERT

Greater Danbury Half-Marathon April 1, 2012

On Sunday April 1, 2012 The Greater Danbury Half-Marathon will be passing thru Redding. There will be road closures as well as speed reductions.

It is anticipated that the runners will be in Redding between 10:30 am and 11:45 am. Runners will be southbound from Bethel on Route 53 turning westbound onto Sidecut Road, crossing the railroad tracks in West Redding center and continuing up Long Ridge Road into Danbury.

The Bethel Police Department will be detouring southbound traffic along Route 53 (at its intersection with Route 302). Traffic will be directed to remain on Route 302 to Chestnut Ridge Road (in Bethel) which becomes Lonetown Road (in Redding). Motorists may then continue on Lonetown Road (Route 107) back to Route 53. There will be no northbound detour.

Sidecut Road will be closed to thru traffic during the duration of the event. Sidecut Road residents will be able to access their homes. West Redding Center is subject to lane closures and alternating traffic.

The marathon coordinators have hired the Redding Police Officers, as well as

officers from the Danbury and Bethel Police Departments to maintain traffic flow. According to race coordinators there may be as many as 750 runners participating in the event.
