Schedule & Details for Sunday's RA5K in Honor of Outgoing Head of School Jim Heus

The first annual RA5K and Fun Run held by Ridgefield Academy, an independent, co-ed day school for children in preschool through 8th grade.  This 5K road race and Fun Run will be held Sunday, May 20 at Ridgefield Academy, 223 West Mountain Road in Ridgefield, CT.  The Fun Run will begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m. To register, visit www.ridgefieldacademy.org/RA5K.

Beginning at 9:30 am there will be a host of kids' games and at 10:00 am the Awards Ceremony will begin. All runners will be entered into a raffle sponsored by 850 Degrees, Adam Broderick, The Gym, Pet Valu, and JoyRide.

The RA5K was created to honor outgoing Head of School Jim Heus, who has led the school for 19 years. “Running has long been an important part of my life, both as a supporter of RA’s student-athletes and an active member of the Ridgefield running community.  As my wife and I move on and begin a new chapter in our lives, I’m proud to welcome the public to our beautiful campus to meet the challenge of my home course,” said Heus. 

The event begins with an 8:00 a.m. Fun Run for children age 10 and under, held entirely on the Ridgefield Academy campus.  Following the Fun Run, the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. and trace a hilly and scenic 3.1-mile course through adjacent neighborhoods.  Roads will be open to motorists during the race, with traffic assistance by the Ridgefield Police and Fire Departments.  All finishers and families are invited to a post-race Awards Ceremony featuring entertainment, refreshments and performances by Ridgefield Academy students.

Registration for the RA5K is $40 in advance and $45 on race day.  Fun Run registration is $15.  Pre-registrants will receive t-shirts and goodie bags; shirts are not guaranteed for race day registrants.  Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, May 18 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Ridgefield Academy, and Saturday, May 19 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Ridgefield Running Company.
