Weekly Drop-In Knitting Circle
Tuesdays
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Bring your own knitting, crochet or needlepoint project or learn basic techniques like casting on, and the knit and purl stitches. If you’re new to knitting and want to give it a try, we will have a selection of yarn and needles to test out. Registration is not required for this program.

Bring your poems and join us for open mic poetry featuring Jack Powers, retiring special education, math and English teacher at Joel Barlow and award-winning poet. Back by popular demand, this will be the fourth poetry event he has hosted at the Mark Twain Library. Jack will read poems from his debut volume Everybody’s Vaguely Familiar. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own poems to share.
Mammal Viewing in Redding with Robert Rockwell

Curious about the all the creatures wandering through your backyard? Robert Rockwell will join us to share his thoughts on Mammal Viewing in Redding. He will focus on the rich and diverse community of fur-bearing critters with whom we share our town and elaborate on identification tricks, natural history and safe viewing practices. Robert will end his talk with thoughts on how we can more safely share the land with these animals and will be happy to entertain questions.
College Application Timeline Workshop (Teens and Adults)

During this interactive session, college counselor and tutor Priyanka Shingala of Let’s Talk College, LLC will present a timeline of Grades 9-12 along with advice on how students can enhance their college candidacy at each step of the way. While knowing the components that create a strong college candidate is important, students and their parents also need to understand how to prioritize certain actions at different stages of a student’s high school career. Priyanka will discuss the various moving parts in the college process and how to organize them properly so that parents and students have a straightforward path to follow.
