Old-Growth Forests Presentation on Thursday, October 3 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Please join us for a special presentation by big tree and old-growth forest expert, Bob Leverett. Bob will discuss the role of big trees and older forests from a number of perspectives including evolutionary history, climate impact, aesthetics, health and forest bathing, and big tree hunting as a sport. Bob will also touch on the role of large, old trees in mitigating rising CO2 levels and climate change.
Bob Leverett is a widely regarded expert on old-growth forests. He is co-founder, president, and principal old-growth forest ecologist of Friends of Mohawk Trail State Forest. Bob is also cofounder and executive director of the Native Tree Society in Massachusetts. He is the author of numerous articles and a key contributor to several authoritative books on old growth, large trees, and wilderness in the Northeastern US.
