The COVID-19 Vaccine: How it Works and How to Get an Appointment in CT will be the topic of a presentation led by local experts from RVNAhealth. The discussions will cover the science behind the COVID-19 vaccine; an overview of the vaccine roll out operation; and helpful information on getting an appointment in CT (for those eligible). 

The mass vaccination of a population during a pandemic is an immense and critical undertaking. This presentation will help explain how the vaccination roll out is presently working and the resources that are available for those who need help. There will also be plenty of time for questions and answers with RVNAhealth and special guest Doug Hartline, the Director of the Redding Health Department.

This program is co-hosted with the Redding Commission on Aging

Laura Shulman Cordeira, MPH – RVNAhealth, Director of Community Health & Wellness
Laura Shulman Cordeira, MPH, is the Director of Community Health and Wellness at RVNAhealth, managing BeWELL, the arm of the organization that promotes health and quality of life at every age. In her current role, Laura is overseeing the development, growth, and implementation of the unprecedented COVID-19 vaccination program for RVNAhealth.

Kaye Hale, MD – RVNAhealth, Hospice Associate Medical DirectorDr. Hale brings lengthy experience in critical care medicine, combined with a dedication to caring for both patients and their families, particularly when it comes to making difficult end of life decisions. Her career as a practicing intensive care physician has included 10 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, as well as two and a half years at New York Presbyterian – Lawrence Hospital.  She is one of RVNAhealth’s experts with regards to the COVID vaccine and has helped in leading the effort of vaccine procurement for the agency.

Doug Hartline – Town of Redding Health Department, Director.  Doug has been Redding’s Health Officer for 33 years enforcing the CT Pubic Health Code in Redding and Georgetown. He facilitated a study on Tick Borne Disease Mitigation Methods and formed Redding CERT.  Doug has also been Redding’s Deputy Emergency Management Director for 14 years.
