Mark Twain Library announces NEW free event for families: Storybook Stomp LIVE Music Outdoors

Storybook Stomp – LIVE Music Outdoors on July 10^th

The Mark Twain Library is thrilled to announce a NEW free event for families and community members to gather together in-person outdoors for an afternoon of live music, food and much-needed family fun! The Storybook Stomp will take place on Saturday, July 10^th from noon through 4pm outside at the Redding Community Center on Lonetown Road.

“An occasion for families in our community to get together for fun is so overdue,” said Mark Twain Library Board Member Eric Rubury. “We have really missed being able to host the Frog Frolic for the last two years and are delighted to provide something now that the guidelines allow us to gather in person.”

This afternoon of family-oriented acoustic music will showcase a handful of the area’s own favorite musical artists performing on a stage in the parking lot of the Redding Community Center. Leif Smith - for those who attend the Mark Twain Library’s historic Frog Frolic - the Mad Hatter himself – will host. From 12-3pm sing and dance along to songs performed by Amy Cabot, Traci Greenberg, Jennifer Terry and Rob Gemza. Then in the final hour from 3-4p kick back and enjoy the country music and good times of North County – featuring Bradley Clark on bass, Peter Hill on drums, Cat Lines on fiddle & vocals, Scott Smith on guitar & vocals and John Ziac on dobro & lap steel guitar.

We invite all families to join us to listen in! Bring a blanket and relax on the gently-sloping lawn across the way or find a spot to set up some chairs. Pack your own picnic, or purchase some tasty snacks, summer treats, ice cream and refreshing drinks from our food tent. We’ll even have a pizza truck from Bailey’s Backyard!

This is a free event for community members in an effort to bring families back together in person after a long period of isolation. The Storybook Stomp is also a fundraising opportunity to contribute to the Mark Twain Library, which serves as a hub for all in Redding to find educational, intellectual, cultural and social enrichment and which missed out on a number of its mainstay fundraisers during the pandemic.

In addition to the food tent, we’ll be selling second-hand children’s books to rejuvenate your bookshelves just in time for some fun summer reading!

We ask that all who attend please adhere to CDC guidelines for the comfort and safety of all those performing and attending the event and encourage all children age 2+ to wear masks.
