The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members.

There are lots of ways to celebrate Moms with an arts experience. Exhibits, concerts, theatre, comedy, and even a night of piano bar fun – take your pick and make some memories with Mom.

Aldrich After-Hours: Karla Knight at Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield

Friday, May 6, 5:00 - 8:00 pm

Kick off the weekend by waking up all your senses with Karla Knight and the release of her first Museum publication, Karla Knight: Navigator. The evening features beer tasting with Broken Symmetry Brewery, DJ JVH, crafting an atmospheric audio landscape to transport guests to other realms, and a Karla Knight-inspired photo station documenting the evening. Knight will also be signing books in her own pictographic language.

The Spring Cabaret Piano Bar at The Ridgefield Theater Barn

Looking for an evening filled with live music, talented performers, and good company? With Tom Morris on piano, invited singers will offer up their favorites, while encouraging the audience to sing songs almost everyone knows by heart. Co-hosts Pamela Jones & Jeffery Albanesi will guide you through an evening of music and unpredictable laughter. The show starts at 8pm & doors open at 7pm. Bring food & drink to enjoy.

Supper & Soul with Cris Jacobs at Westport Library

Friday, May 6, 8:00 pm

Date night alert! Spanning rock, folk, soul and funk, this show is a portrait of Cris Jacobs as a songwriter, musician and bandleader. His music is a reminder that there's beauty to be found everywhere. Ticket price includes a three-course dinner at a downtown restaurant and the concert. 

“The Lobby” at Curtain Call, Stamford

Friday, May 6 & Saturday May 7, 8:00 pm and Sunday May 8, 2:00 pm

It's the World Premiere of a charming farce written by Irish author, actor and director, Don Creedon about Jimmy Burgess, an unassuming night doorman of a posh loft-space, and his old friend Miles O'Riordan. Running through May 22nd.

Art in the Barn: “Crowdsourcing the Collective” at Browngrotta Arts, Wilton

Saturday, May 7 and Sunday May 15, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm

A survey of textile and mixed media art, this exhibition of forty artists from a dozen countries illustrates the vitality of the newly prominent art textiles, ceramics and mixed media. The exhibition reflects the astonishing range of materials and techniques that make this work so attractive for collectors, including tapestries of silk and agave, sculptures of seaweed, seagrass and willow, wall works made of sandpaper, hemp and horsehair, and ceramics of Shigaraki clay.

Welcome Spring with Judy Pancoast at The Ridgefield Library

Fabulous Family Fun! As a Grammy-nominated children's musician, Judy brings her all-original, ruckus-causing songs to spread her special joy with songs like "Ladybug," "The Jump Rope Queen," and "Try, Try." Celebrate the joys of Spring through music.

Valentina Kozlova Dance Conservatory Spring Performance at The Wall Street Theater, Norwalk

Saturday, May 7,  7:00 pm 

Don’t miss this beautiful dance performance, including pieces from VKDC’s Classical and Contemporary repertoire with a revival of Ruslan & Ludmila, and variations from timeless pieces like Don Quixote, Le Corsaire, and more. The Classical section will be followed by a new work by Contemporary choreographer Nina Buisson. 

Aminah Imani Live at Fairfield Comedy Club

Saturday, May 7, 7:00 pm

Add a little laughter to your weekend with a stand-up comedian, host, and actor who can be seen nightly at reputable comedy clubs and venues in New York City. Her notable performance at her alma mater, Howard University's Homecoming Comedy Show, paved the way for career highlights including; 2018 Carolines on Broadway March Madness Comedy competition, the DC Comedy Festival, Skankfest Comedy Festival, online content with Buzzfeed and television appearance on Viceland.

The Stamford Symphony’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” at Stamford Palace Theatre

Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm

The Stamford Symphony season concludes with a first ever performance by the orchestra of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures from an Exhibition.” The concert also includes Florence Price’s Piano Concerto played by Michelle Cann. 

South for Winter at Voices Cafe, Westport

Saturday, May 7 at 8:00 pm

Multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Nick and Dani Stone and Alex Stradal bring their eclectic “Nashville” Blues vibe to CT. A blend of dreamy acoustic duets, foot-stomping folk, and bluesy ballads create an original mix of sound - combining cello, guitar, mandolin, and three-part harmonies. Chosen as a "top DJ pick" by John Platt of New York City’s WFUV Radio. This is a hybrid event that can be seen live and live streamed.
