Watch an unforgettable performance with Kevin Johnson, a living history performer, as he vividly brings to life the struggles of an African American soldier who served in the ’29th Connecticut Colored Volunteer Infantry’ during the Civil War.
Private William Webb was an actual soldier and native of Hartford. He was recruited in 1863 and fought in several battles in Virginia.
Johnson’s performance is the result of two decades of careful research, and the presentation of Webb is told from an emotional and exciting first-person perspective that vividly illustrates the struggles of African Americans who served in the “Colored Infantry” during the Civil War.
