HomeCare by RVNA presents How to Choose a Caregiver on June 28

Many families know that eventually Mom or Dad, or both, will need some help in order to live alone in their homes and maintain their quality of life, as many elderly people want to do.  This help may be necessary on a temporary basis or it may be a long-term need.  When the time comes, it is critically important to find high quality caregivers, but the options abound and can be very confusing.

To help navigate this important decision, Heather McGhie, Director of HomeCare by RVNA, will outline the different types of caregivers available, as well as what questions to ask and what to look for when you’re hiring.  HomeCare by RVNA is a subsidiary of RVNA.

“There are thousands of home health aides and CNAs (certified nursing assistants) in Connecticut,” says McGhie, “and sadly not all are equally qualified.  Some come with risks, both to the person who needs care and to the family.  But there are things you can do to make sure you’re hiring the best person for your situation.”

This presentation will take place on Wednesday, June 28, at the Center for Exceptional Care, 27 Governor Street, starting at 6:30 pm.  This event is free and open to the public.  Please sign up by calling RVNA at 203-438-5555 or by emailing RVNA at info@ridgefieldvna.org.
