Ancona's Life in a Bottle: Getting to Know Kelley Fox

Ancona's Wines recently received a visit from winemaker Kelley Fox of Kelley Fox Wines. "It was a special evening - the wines were singing!" says Cody Foster, Wine Director at Ancona's Wines & Liquors.

Kelley, with an unwavering passion for the land she farms and cultivates for wine, is one woman operation…much of the farming, winemaking is done by hand and done by Kelley's hands alone.

In this edition of Life in a Bottle, Mitch Ancona sits down with Kelley Fox and asks her 11 off the cuff questions (not about winemaking but you'll understand it after the short interview). Watch it here.

Foster reflects on a memorable evening with Kelley Fox, "After getting to know a person [Kelley], it is possible to see glimpses of that person in their wines. Kelley Is a very calibrated spirit. And even though these wines are all about place, vineyard expression, and terroir--having had the chance to spend some time with Kelley, it’s easy to see her spirit in these wines."

Kelley’s visit brought some unexpected news to local wine lovers: For many years Kelley has had the opportunity to purchase fruit from Momtazi Vineyard—one of the great, Certified Biodynamic, grand cru vineyards of Willamette.

2016 will be the final vintage of Momtazi.
