Did you know that RVNA can help you if you’re feeling dizzy?

Feeling dizzy? RVNA can help!

If the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) stats are correct, dizziness may very well occur in your lifetime.

According to the NIH, dizziness will occur in 90 million of the nation’s population at some time in their lives and is the second most common complaint heard in doctors’ offices.

“People get dizzy for a variety of medical reasons,” says Gigi Weiss, MSPT, Director of Rehabilitation at RVNA. “Dizziness can come on gradually or appear suddenly and acutely. It can range from absolutely debilitating, where you can’t function, to simply annoying and inconvenient. In all instances, when you’re dizzy, you need to find out why.”

RVNA does this through “Vestibular Therapy,” a type of physical therapy performed by Certified Vestibular Specialists that works to identify the root cause of the dizziness, and develop and execute a therapeutic plan to address it.  RVNA has three certified Vestibular Specialists on staff, who meet patients in their homes or outpatient at the RVNA Rehabilitation Center on Governor Street.

“At RVNA, we see vestibular patients of all ages, including children,” says Weiss. “Some already understand where the dizziness is coming from, and we treat them. Others don’t know and it’s our job to help them find out and regain their equilibrium.”

If you are experiencing general dizziness; suffer from headaches or frequent falls; experience imbalance or the need to hold onto objects when walking, it might be time to explore the issue.
