Don't Mess with Danbury Mayor Mark! He Slams John Oliver by Renaming City Sewer Plant "John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant"

John Oliver, don't mess with Danbury

- Danbury Mayor, Mark Boughton

On his HBO show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver the comedian took it upon himself to slam the City of Danbury saying, "If you're going to forget a town in Connecticut, why not forget Danbury?[expletive]. From its charming Railway Museum to its historic hearthstone castle...Danbury, Connecticut can eat my [expletive]."

He went on to say, "I know exactly three things about Danbury: USA Today ranked it the second-best city to live in (2015), It was once the center of the American hat industry, and, if you're from there, you have a standing invite to get a thrashing from John Oliver (children included)."

Today, Mayor Mark Boughton provided one additional Danbury point of interest for Oliver to chew on. As he stood in front of the City of Danbury sewer plant, he boldly announced that it has been renamed John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant. "Why? Because it's full of [explective] Just like you, John! And, oh, by the way, thanks for showing the Amazon video, we did get Amazon here in Danbury," said Boughton.

Tomorrow, Sunday, August 23, Boughton will appear on WTNH (News 8) to offer his "official" City of Danbury response to Mr. Oliver's comments regarding the Hat City.
