COVID Booster Shots
The FDA and CDC have expanded the authorization and recommendations related to booster doses. For individuals who received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series:
• 65 years and older
• Age 18 who live in long-term care settings
• Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
• Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
For individuals who received a J & J vaccine, booster shots are recommended for those who are 18 and older who were vaccinated two or more months ago. This means that all individuals who received a J & J vaccine should receive a booster.
Mixing & Matching
Both the FDA and CDC support individuals to receive a booster dose that is a different vaccine type than they originally received for their primary series if they choose.
COVID Vaccinations
Redding has Vax Van clinics scheduled for every Sunday through November 21st at the Redding Community Center from 1-4pm. We will also be running a clinic Monday October 25 from 11-2 at the Community Center. All 3 brands of vaccine will be available for first and second doses, and boosters. No appointment is needed.
Other Vaccination Providers
Just about every pharmacy (see list below) in the area as well as Costco, Walmart, and Big Y carry the COVID-19 vaccines. Many have received their vaccination at these locations. If you qualify for the booster shot, you can schedule your appointment with them.
