Child’s Pose is Fairfield County’s only kids’ yoga studio offering an explorative, restorative, and imaginative safe space for kids to discover the connection between body, mind, and breath.
Named affectionately for one of the most accessible and restorative poses, Child’s Pose understands that kids are not just “little adults” and believes that their yoga practice should be as unique as they are. Child’s Pose Yoga classes are expertly curated by founder Carly Walker who holds certifications in child yoga from both Karma Kids in New York City and in Deep Play with Missy Brown.
Carly balances her child-specific training with her own personal 20+ years of personal yoga practice and a 200-hour adult yoga training with Kaia Yoga. During the pandemic, many of Carly’s students were unable to attend in-person classes. As a result, some students were unable to utilize kid’s yoga to alleviate the challenging emotions associated with adapting to a “new normal.”
Carly launched a YouTube Channel: Kid’s Yoga with Carly Walker to provide all kids with access to children’s yoga.
The benefits of children’s yoga are endless. It develops strength and endurance, boosts self-esteem, improves emotional regulation, and helps manage anxiety. Carly wanted her mini yogis to experience the same calm, centered feeling that they were achieving in her class in the comfort of their own home. Mindfulness should be achievable whenever and whenever it is needed. “I would like to make yoga available to more children because I have seen the results in children both physically and emotionally. They can learn the tools they need to calm themselves when their emotions become too overwhelming for them. I genuinely believe incorporating yoga into a child’s weekly routine can make a significant difference in their life,” said Carly Walker.
Carly is getting ready to launch a diverse cross section of kid’s yoga videos in the coming months, including bedtime yoga, family yoga, yoga playdates, and rise and shine yoga. Namaste.
