Tina Cobelle-Sturges painting sells for $110,000 at RADical Hope auction, raises funds to prevent the #2 killer among college students

Tina Cobelle-Sturges’ painting auctioned off at RADical Hope Foundation's fundraising event last night in New York City for $110,000

A well-known Ridgefield artist, Sturges was recently asked by the RADical Hope Foundation to create a piece of art symbolic of the nonprofit’s mission:

To break the grip of emotional isolation that is killing our young people. We do this by expanding and delivering measurable, science-based programs that fill critical gaps and equip America’s youth with the skills they need to thrive - Pam Martin, RADical Hope Co-founder

Sturges delivered.

Last night, at the nonprofit’s fundraising event at Union League Club in New York City, Cobelle’s stunning  48” x 60” oil on canvas painting titled “All Around Us”  was auctioned off for $110,000. This is nearly double the amount her painting raised for RADical Hope in 2021.

Sturges says her abstract painting, “All Around Us” radiates positivity and connection. “It captures the essence of humanity - coming together to raise each other up toward a supported, loving and more harmonious tomorrow." She continues, “Waves of color emerge from the very center of the painting, flowing outwards to create the arrangement of human figures in a circular grouping. The juxtaposition of color utilizing bright, ribbon-like strokes interwoven with some subtle whites invites the viewer to take a breath and be captivated by the moment inside. The figures might be seated or dancing amidst an ocean of color, in silence or enveloped in the ambiance of a musical rhapsody.”

Prominently displayed in front of the room last night, Sturges's soft-hued painting radiated connectivity and hope while elevating the cause and lifting up RADical Hope's message and mission.

Founded by Ridgefield resident Larry Bossidy’s daughter and son-in-law Pam and Phil Martin in honor of their son, Chris who died by suicide in the fall of 2017, RADical Hope Foundation’s charge is to break the grip of emotional isolation that is claiming the lives of our youth.

Last night’s event raised funds to achieve RADical Hope’s goal of reaching one million students across the country as soon as possible.

New York University Vice Chancellor, Linda Mills was honored with the Christopher Martin Award for student mental health over the last two decades. Special guests include Larry Fitzgerald, Jr., former NFL wide receiver. Dave Price, WNBC Weather Anchor combined humor and heartfelt messages as the Master of Ceremonies.

RADical Hope has successfully given 10,000 students the tools to help with the increase of social disconnection college students are feeling like never before. The students in the program have given it rave reviews, with 87% recommending it to other students. Their goal is to reach 1 million kids, and do it while making sure there is zero cost to the institutions or kids participating in the program.

The pandemic has only magnified the urgency to help our young people and the need for RADical Hope.

RADical Hope identifies, develops and funds proven frontline engagement programs that deliver on its mission priorities: Connectivity, Engagement, Emotional Intelligence, Empowerment and Sustainability.
