The Center for Empowerment and Education hosts Survivor Gallery at WCSU April 20 & 21

In observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, The Center for Empowerment and Education (formerly The Women’s Center of Greater Danbury), will host a Survivor Art Gallery on Thursday, April 20, and Friday, April 21, at Western Connecticut State University. The free event is open to the public from noon to 7 p.m. at the Westside Campus Center Ballroom, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury.

The Survivor Art Gallery will showcase student and community member paintings, drawings, photography, poems, stories and other tangible pieces of art that exemplify their story of abuse, assault, trauma, healing and survival. Counselors from The Center for Empowerment and Education will be present and available during the exhibit. The Center has a campus office at WCSU that serves as a confidential, no-cost resource for individuals of any gender identity on and off campus who have experienced or are experiencing any form of interpersonal violence.
