"A hootenanny with a purpose,” this is how Henny Penny Farm owner Whitney Freeman describes their fun, festive event. “We wanted to find a way to bring community together, young and old, acknowledge the farms that keep agriculture alive while making a difference in the lives of those where affording food is a reality.”
At the Henny Penny Hootenanny, held the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the whole farm is open and hosts food and fiber demos, live music and raffles inside the historic 1725 barn and outside games, animals and more. The funds raised this year will be going to benefit the food pantry at the nonprofit Person-to-Person, a wonderful local organization that provides emergency assistance for basic needs to individuals and families in the community.
