Town of Redding May 7, 2019, Referendum Information

On May 7, 2019 there will be a Town of Redding and Regional School District No. 9 referendum vote on the annual budgets for the fiscal year 2019-2020.  The ballot will also include questions for capital expenditures for both the town and the regional school district.  Click here to view the ballot.  Voting will be held at the Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road, Redding from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Who can vote at the referendum? Any person who is an elector of the town and any citizen of the age of eighteen years or more who, jointly or severally, is liable to the town for taxes assessed against them on an assessment of not less than one thousand dollars on the last-completed grand list.

The deadline to register in person and still vote at the referendum is Monday, May 6, 2019 @12:00 noon.  Mail-in registrations must be postmarked or received by the Registrar of Voters no later than Wednesday, May 1, 2019.  For more information visit the Town of Redding website at www.townofreddingct.org – How Do I?

ABSENTEE BALLOTS for the May 7, 2019 Town Budget Referendum will be available at the Town Clerk’s Office starting Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

Absentee balloting is available for those individuals who cannot vote in person for one of the following reasons: active service in the armed forces; absence from town during all hours of the referendum; physical disability; illness; or religious tenets.

An application must be delivered to the Town Clerk’s Office at which time the ballot will be given to the applicant. If the applicant is unable to come in person, he or she can designate a member of their family to pick up their ballot and return it to the town clerk. An application must still first be completed and delivered to the Town Clerk with the designation of a family member to hand carry the ballot. Since this referendum is being held with less than 3 weeks notice, absentee ballots cannot be mailed by the town clerk.

An Application for Absentee Ballot for Referendum Authorized to be Held with Less Than 3 Weeks Notice – Form ED-3R, can be downloaded at the Town of Redding by clicking here. The completed and signed form must be presented to the Town Clerk’s Office at which time an absentee ballot will be issued to either the applicant or the applicant’s designee.

Completed absentee ballots may be either hand-delivered or mailed to the Town Clerk’s Office, but must be received no later than 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
