Letter: Elect Karen Giffords for Redding Board of Finance

We are writing in support of Karen Gifford for the Redding Board of Finance. Karen is the complete package—a lifelong Democrat who has the breadth of financial experience from which the entire town can benefit. Among her many accomplishments, during her more than 40-year career in municipal and corporate finance, Karen provided her clients with strategies for obtaining and improving credit ratings to produce lower borrowing costs and securing credit without which clients would not have been able to borrow funds.

With this experience, Karen can provide valuable insights into all the tasks of the BOF, such as long-range planning, debt financing, investment policy, requirements of and negotiation with credit rating agencies, and audit review. Her contributions will go far beyond just the more public-facing budget development.

Karen is committed to this community. Since moving to Redding full-time (having been a part time resident beginning in 1983), she was elected to the Board of Assessment Appeals and has served on the boards for the Mark Twain Library and the League of Women Voters. She has served on a number of other charitable and educational boards—including one high school and one collegiate board.

Karen will serve Redding and all of its residents. She will listen to everyone and fight for what is right for the town and its schools.
