Redding Resident IDs Runaway After Seeing Silver Alert, Teen Is United With Family

This report from Redding Police is testimony to the importance of the Silver Alert system and observant town citizens.

Redding Police report that on May 4 at approximately 7:22 AM, Officers responded to a residence, for a report of a 13-year-old female who had run away sometime overnight. According to police, she was upset over being grounded and having her cell phone taken away.

A Silver Alert was issued while Search and Rescue teams from West Redding and Redding Ridge Fire Departments checked the area near the residence, police say. 

According to Redding Police, at approximately 1:30 pm, a resident who saw the Silver Alert identified the 13-year-old walking on Rte 53 near John Read Middle School.  After contacting Police, the resident drove the 13-year-old to the Redding Police Department.

The 13 Year old was evaluated by the Redding Ridge Ambulance Service and reunited with her parents.
