Take Heed Redding: It's Snapping Turtle Nesting Season!

Did you know? In addition to serving the public by investigating all domestic animal matters, the Redding Animal Control Officer (ACO) is also a trained Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator and spends much of his time assisting residents with wildlife matters as well

Below is an important message from Redding Animal Control Officer regarding Snapping Turtles.

The nesting season for Snapping Turtles is coming upon us and you are likely to see them crossing many of the roads in town. Snapping turtles rarely leave their aquatic habitat except during the breeding season, at which time females travel great distances in search of a place to dig a nest and lay eggs.

Selected nest sites include banks, lawns, gardens and road embankments.
