West Redding Fire Department Fights Structure Fire on Marchant Road, No Injuries Reported

Structure fire

At approximately 8:20 pm Friday, October 1 West Redding Fire Department was dispatched to 55 Marchant Rd for a possible structure fire along with automatic aid from Redding Fire & EMS Company #1 and Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department.

A few minutes later, a firefighter arrived on the scene reporting visible fire on the rear side of the house. This initiated a first alarm assignment adding Bethel Fire & EMS to the scene, and town coverage from Miry Brook Fire Department, Weston Volunteer Fire Department and Easton, CT Volunteer Fire Department.

All occupants and two dogs were safely outside on the arrival of E21 with four firefighters and car 201. 2- 1-3/4” attack lines were stretched around the rear. All visible exterior fire was knocked down and work on opening the 2 story cathedral ceiling began. A third 1-3/4” line was stretched to protect the recently framed addition on the delta side. Roof operations were limited due to a solar panel array.

The fire was completely extinguished and contained to the room of origin. Additional assistance was provided from County coordinator Ring, Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department and Danbury Volunteer Fire Battalion Thirty-One, Inc./Squad 7 from Danbury.

The West Redding Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.

Thank you to all town and mutual aid responders! - Chief Jayson Sherwood
