Ridgefield Boys Lacrosse Team to Raise Money and Awareness for Lung Cancer

On Saturday, May 5th at 6pm at Tiger Hollow Stadium, the RHS Varsity Lacrosse Team players will be participating in a "Stick It To Cancer" event, held in conjunction with their game against Brien McMahon of Norwalk, by helping to create awareness and raise money for lung cancer research and treatment. The captains of the team chose lung cancer awareness based on personal connections to friends and families who have lost their battle with this horrible disease.

During the game, important facts about lung cancer will be read during timeouts and halftime to help educate people on the disease and raise funds for research and treatment. In addition, there will be a raffle of RHS lax spirit wear items and American Cancer Society items and a bake sale. All money raised will go to support the American Cancer Society.

The Boys Varsity lacrosse team will wear pink shoelaces with pearl white ribbons to help generate awareness for lung cancer.  The pearl white ribbon has become internationally recognized as the symbol for lung cancer.

On Saturday, April 28th, the RHS Girls Lax team held their "Stick it to Cancer" event and raised over $300.  They wore pink jerseys and sold "pink dessert" items during the game. Their efforts were specifically focused on creating awareness for breast cancer.

The money raised at the game on Saturday will be combined with the girls' efforts, and a "Stick it To Cancer" donation will be made to American Cancer Society on behalf of the RHS Lacrosse program.

Please come to the lacrosse game, support the boys, congratulate and the girls, and together, we can all help in making a difference in fighting this disease!
